We had the pleasure of spending a week in San Francisco working on a cover story about the city's tech wizards investing in artisan coffee and chocolate for WIRED Japan.
(And we might have eaten a lot of chocolate and washed it down with a lot of coffee, too.)
We photographed James Freeman and Bryan Meehan of Blue Bottle Coffee, brothers Justin and Jerad Morrison of Sightglass Coffee, Cameron Ring and Todd Masonis who co-founded Dandelion Chocolate, the guys behind Blossom Coffee, Steve Jang (a start-up creative and a Blue Bottle investor), Louis Rossetto (the founder of WIRED and former CEO of TCHO chocolate), Caterina Fake (the creator of Flickr and also a Blue Bottle investor), "A Film About Coffee" Director Brandon Loper, Neil Day of Perfect Coffee (a yummy instant coffee), and James Higa (formerly the senior director in the office of the CEO at Apple) and Mike Volpi of Index Ventures. Whew! It was a whirlwind. We also got to explore two yummy chocolate factories, which kinda sorta made Kendrick reeeeally happy.
We were blown away when the magazine ran 20 (yes, 20!!!) pages of our photos from the many shoots. And their use of design is like no other!
