By far, the very best jobs are the ones when the client says, "hey, you do you." That's exactly what happened when Martha Williams, Photo Director at Chicago Magazine , initially asked us to do portraits of Tom Krell aka How to Dress Well specifically with a color wash. She sent us examples of our more colorful experimental work and said, "LOVE your work. Such amazing lighting and colors" and that was music to our ears. So we did just that and got to play around a little. FYI, we are not Photoshop gurus and this type of image is always created in the camera and not on the computer (not that there's anything wrong with either way, we just have a background in photojournalism and try to keep it real).
